N-PENTANE ISOMERIZATION OVER Pt/ H-MORDENITE AND Pt-Re/HMORDENITE- Al2O3

Abstract

Sodic Mordenite was modified with HNO3 6M to remove sodium and aluminum from zeolite structure. Mordenite was used as support of the catalysts: Pt/H-mordenite and Pt-Re/H-mordenite. A portion of zeolite was mixed with alumina to prepare bimetallic Pt-Re/H-mordenite-alumina and Pt/H-mordenite-alumina catalyst. The four catalysts were evaluated in n-pentane isomerization at 250 ºC, during 60 hours in atmospheric pressure, in order to analyze the final effect on deactivation of materials. The activity was in this order: Pt/HM > Pt/HMA25 >Pt-Re/HM = Pt-Re/HMA25. The complete catalysts deactivation was promoted by an increment in the reaction temperature up to 400 ºC. The regeneration of the used catalysts was carried out in air at 600 ºC for 8 hours. The rhenium promotes an increment of the conversion to isopentane in the regenerated catalysts for Pt-Re/HM and Pt-Re/HMA25 which can be caused by the destruction of coke precursors or to the activation of the rhenium
