EVALUATION OF A NITRATE SELECTIVE ELECTRODE OF LIQUID MEMBRANE WITH TRIOCTILMETILAMMONIUM CHLORIDE ON A CONDUCTIVE SUPPORT

Abstract

Nitrate ion selective electrodes have been prepared using trioctilmethylammonium chloride (TOMA-Cl), o-Nitrophenyloctylether (0-NPOE), tris(2-ethylhexylphosphate (TEHP), dioctylphalate (DOP), immobilized in PVC. The membrane was applied on a conductive resin support. In this work some parameters of evaluation of this electrodes are presented. The electrodes exhibit linear response in the range 10-5 to 10-1 mol/dm3, with slopes of –61.82,-59.41 and –56.29 mV.decade-1 respectively with a shelf life of three months. The selectivity coefficients for various ions were calculated. The time response of the electrodes was determined (less than10 s). The influence of the pH on the response of the electrodes was also evaluated
